NY is A-pause-MAZING

I am currently in class right now at NYU, learning about cover lines and targeting the right demographic for your reader. Cosmo writes about vibrators while Glamour rights about sweet sex. Yeah, okay. I get it... In the past week and a half, I have met so many amazing professionals, such as, Cindy Lieve (editor of Glamour), David Carr (President of Hearst), editors from Real Simple, Consumers Report, Bon Appetite, Time Out New York, Elle and HR people from Time, Randomhouse, Hearst, Sterling and so many more. I even got to tour Gawker (ahhhh!) and meet the editor of Jezebel, Jessica Coen, as well as the PR Manager, Kevin Prince. It was insanely cool.

Love living in NY, minus sharing half a closet! There is so much to see and do.

Empire State of Mind

Hi all!

I'm in NY now for the summer (at least!) I got here on Sunday to start a publishing grad program. It is super intense and very competitive. I love living in NY so far. The subway is not as bad as I expected. In fact, I sorta like the idea of public transportation now. It seems relatively fast and convenient. I thought walking would be a pain in the ass but you can go pretty far, pretty fast. There is so much to do here and so many things to see. I have met a lot of people and am still taking it all in. I think it will be a great summer!

Ulta Summer Beauty Favs

It is no secret that I love Ulta. Today I went to get a new Neutrogena mineral powder palette and came back with lots of great necessities. For one, new O.P.I. Silver shatter. Obviously, the black shatter polish was pretty effin genius but the fact that is comes in silver is so great for summer. I got the new Loreal OneSweep eye shadow palettes for brown eyes. I love these because you can apply 3 colors at one time with one tear shaped brush. I also picked up a Loreal voluminous mascara. I wanted to switch it up from the Maybelline Falsies mascara and I'm pretty pleased with this one. I also got new hair ties by Vidal Sasson because I hate when hair ties snap and I got lip plumping lip gloss by Sally Hansen. Sally Hansen has really stepped it up with their summer line. I love their new tweezer line as well.

i love kate spade

I'm having a bit of a love affair with my new kate spade darla wallet in mercury. 

It is the most perfect wallet. I am a wristlet kind of gal but am sick of that style and I never use just a wristlet. I always just throw it in the bag. I just like having my keys and my wallet attached so when I found this wallet on the bloomingdale's website, i had to grab it. There are many pockets in addition to it having a keyring attached. It also has a see thru id holder on the back.

Redbox is an amazing thing. They are popping up all over the place. Meijers, Walmarts, Krogers and even McDonalds!

I stopped at one tonight for the first time and couldn't believe how easy and convenient they are.

Real Housewives & Jill Zarin

I am addicted to those Real Housewives shows. I know they are all looking for fame and each one wants more money than the last. There a lot of drama, which may be catty but it is some entertaining stuff. Jill Zarin is one of my favorites. She hosts Ustream chats online to connect with her fan base and one day, I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I asked her for an autograph and she actually sent me one in the mail. She sent me a postcard of her book (below) and it was signed by her, her mother and her sister. Jill Zarin is the best!!!

Well, Hello LC!

LC is coming back in a big way today. She has a new clothing line on the way called Paper Crown and she has launched a new beauty website called The Beauty Department. I think this website will be a cute idea so long as she is really doing the stuff herself and not having someone else do her hair. Do-it-yourself makeup tutorials are very popular on youtube and I think LC has what it takes to do her own, being the style icon that she is.
